In like manner shalt thou do with his ass; and so shalt thou do with his raiment; and with all lost thing of thy brother’s, which he hath lost, and thou hast found, shalt thou do likewise: thou mayest not hide thyself. (Deuteronomy 22:3)
The same law as in v. 1, 2 was applicable to anything a man might find. The basic principle of love for one’s neighbor included an interest in whatever affected him. Compare the teaching of Jesus on this point (Matt. 5:42-48).
