Psalm 23

1 The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. 85 I
2 He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. 48 I
3 He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. 49 I
4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. 47 I
5 Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. 30 I
6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever. 105 I

1 Samuel 12

1 And Samuel said unto all Israel, Behold, I have hearkened unto your voice in all that ye said unto me, and have made a king over you.
2 And now, behold, the king walketh before you: and I am old and grayheaded; and, behold, my sons are with you: and I have walked before you from my childhood unto this day.
3 Behold, here I am: witness against me before the Lord, and before his anointed: whose ox have I taken? or whose ass have I taken? or whom have I defrauded? whom have I oppressed? or of whose hand have I received any bribe to blind mine eyes therewith? and I will restore it you.
4 And they said, Thou hast not defrauded us, nor oppressed us, neither hast thou taken ought of any man’s hand.
5 And he said unto them, The Lord is witness against you, and his anointed is witness this day, that ye have not found ought in my hand. And they answered, He is witness.
6 And Samuel said unto the people, It is the Lord that advanced Moses and Aaron, and that brought your fathers up out of the land of Egypt.
7 Now therefore stand still, that I may reason with you before the Lord of all the righteous acts of the Lord, which he did to you and to your fathers.
8 When Jacob was come into Egypt, and your fathers cried unto the Lord, then the Lord sent Moses and Aaron, which brought forth your fathers out of Egypt, and made them dwell in this place.
9 And when they forgat the Lord their God, he sold them into the hand of Sisera, captain of the host of Hazor, and into the hand of the Philistines, and into the hand of the king of Moab, and they fought against them.
10 And they cried unto the Lord, and said, We have sinned, because we have forsaken the Lord, and have served Baalim and Ashtaroth: but now deliver us out of the hand of our enemies, and we will serve thee. 2 I
11 And the Lord sent Jerubbaal, and Bedan, and Jephthah, and Samuel, and delivered you out of the hand of your enemies on every side, and ye dwelled safe.
12 And when ye saw that Nahash the king of the children of Ammon came against you, ye said unto me, Nay; but a king shall reign over us: when the Lord your God was your king.
13 Now therefore behold the king whom ye have chosen, and whom ye have desired! and, behold, the Lord hath set a king over you. 2 I
14 If ye will fear the Lord, and serve him, and obey his voice, and not rebel against the commandment of the Lord, then shall both ye and also the king that reigneth over you continue following the Lord your God:
15 But if ye will not obey the voice of the Lord, but rebel against the commandment of the Lord, then shall the hand of the Lord be against you, as it was against your fathers. 4 I
16 Now therefore stand and see this great thing, which the Lord will do before your eyes. 6 I
17 Is it not wheat harvest to day? I will call unto the Lord, and he shall send thunder and rain; that ye may perceive and see that your wickedness is great, which ye have done in the sight of the Lord, in asking you a king. 2 I
18 So Samuel called unto the Lord; and the Lord sent thunder and rain that day: and all the people greatly feared the Lord and Samuel. 2 I
19 And all the people said unto Samuel, Pray for thy servants unto the Lord thy God, that we die not: for we have added unto all our sins this evil, to ask us a king. 2 I
20 And Samuel said unto the people, Fear not: ye have done all this wickedness: yet turn not aside from following the Lord, but serve the Lord with all your heart; 6 I
21 And turn ye not aside: for then should ye go after vain things, which cannot profit nor deliver; for they are vain. 3 I
22 For the Lord will not forsake his people for his great name’s sake: because it hath pleased the Lord to make you his people. 4 I
23 Moreover as for me, God forbid that I should sin against the Lord in ceasing to pray for you: but I will teach you the good and the right way: 6 I
24 Only fear the Lord, and serve him in truth with all your heart: for consider how great things he hath done for you. 20 I
25 But if ye shall still do wickedly, ye shall be consumed, both ye and your king. 2 I

Lamentations 3

1 I Am the man that hath seen affliction by the rod of his wrath. 6 I
2 He hath led me, and brought me into darkness, but not into light. 6 I
3 Surely against me is he turned; he turneth his hand against me all the day. 6 I
4 My flesh and my skin hath he made old; he hath broken my bones.
5 He hath builded against me, and compassed me with gall and travail.
6 He hath set me in dark places, as they that be dead of old.
7 He hath hedged me about, that I cannot get out: he hath made my chain heavy.
8 Also when I cry and shout, he shutteth out my prayer. 4 I
9 He hath inclosed my ways with hewn stone, he hath made my paths crooked. 4 I
10 He was unto me as a bear lying in wait, and as a lion in secret places.
11 He hath turned aside my ways, and pulled me in pieces: he hath made me desolate.
12 He hath bent his bow, and set me as a mark for the arrow.
13 He hath caused the arrows of his quiver to enter into my reins.
14 I was a derision to all my people; and their song all the day.
15 He hath filled me with bitterness, he hath made me drunken with wormwood.
16 He hath also broken my teeth with gravel stones, he hath covered me with ashes.
17 And thou hast removed my soul far off from peace: I forgat prosperity. 4 I
18 And I said, My strength and my hope is perished from the Lord: 4 I
19 Remembering mine affliction and my misery, the wormwood and the gall.
20 My soul hath them still in remembrance, and is humbled in me.
21 This I recall to my mind, therefore have I hope. 4 I
22 It is of the Lord’s mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. 18 I
23 They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness. 7 I
24 The Lord is my portion, saith my soul; therefore will I hope in him. 6 I
25 The Lord is good unto them that wait for him, to the soul that seeketh him. 12 I
26 It is good that a man should both hope and quietly wait for the salvation of the Lord. 12 I
27 It is good for a man that he bear the yoke in his youth. 8 I
28 He sitteth alone and keepeth silence, because he hath borne it upon him. 2 I
29 He putteth his mouth in the dust; if so be there may be hope.
30 He giveth his cheek to him that smiteth him: he is filled full with reproach.
31 For the Lord will not cast off for ever:
32 But though he cause grief, yet will he have compassion according to the multitude of his mercies. 4 I
33 For he doth not afflict willingly nor grieve the children of men. 18 I
34 To crush under his feet all the prisoners of the earth. 6 I
35 To turn aside the right of a man before the face of the most High, 6 I
36 To subvert a man in his cause, the Lord approveth not. 6 I
37 Who is he that saith, and it cometh to pass, when the Lord commandeth it not? 4 I
38 Out of the mouth of the most High proceedeth not evil and good? 4 I
39 Wherefore doth a living man complain, a man for the punishment of his sins? 2 I
40 Let us search and try our ways, and turn again to the Lord. 6 I
41 Let us lift up our heart with our hands unto God in the heavens. 4 I
42 We have transgressed and have rebelled: thou hast not pardoned.
43 Thou hast covered with anger, and persecuted us: thou hast slain, thou hast not pitied.
44 Thou hast covered thyself with a cloud, that our prayer should not pass through.
45 Thou hast made us as the offscouring and refuse in the midst of the people.
46 All our enemies have opened their mouths against us.
47 Fear and a snare is come upon us, desolation and destruction.
48 Mine eye runneth down with rivers of water for the destruction of the daughter of my people. 4 I
49 Mine eye trickleth down, and ceaseth not, without any intermission. 6 I
50 Till the Lord look down, and behold from heaven. 6 I
51 Mine eye affecteth mine heart because of all the daughters of my city.
52 Mine enemies chased me sore, like a bird, without cause.
53 They have cut off my life in the dungeon, and cast a stone upon me. 2 I
54 Waters flowed over mine head; then I said, I am cut off. 4 I
55 I called upon thy name, O Lord, out of the low dungeon. 6 I
56 Thou hast heard my voice: hide not thine ear at my breathing, at my cry. 8 I
57 Thou drewest near in the day that I called upon thee: thou saidst, Fear not. 9 I
58 O Lord, thou hast pleaded the causes of my soul; thou hast redeemed my life. 4 I
59 O Lord, thou hast seen my wrong: judge thou my cause. 2 I
60 Thou hast seen all their vengeance and all their imaginations against me.
61 Thou hast heard their reproach, O Lord, and all their imaginations against me;
62 The lips of those that rose up against me, and their device against me all the day.
63 Behold their sitting down, and their rising up; I am their musick. 4 I
64 Render unto them a recompence, O Lord, according to the work of their hands.
65 Give them sorrow of heart, thy curse unto them.
66 Persecute and destroy them in anger from under the heavens of the Lord.

1 Peter 5

1 The elders which are among you I exhort, who am also an elder, and a witness of the sufferings of Christ, and also a partaker of the glory that shall be revealed:
2 Feed the flock of God which is among you, taking the oversight thereof, not by constraint, but willingly; not for filthy lucre, but of a ready mind; 3 I
3 Neither as being lords over God’s heritage, but being examples to the flock. 10 I
4 And when the chief Shepherd shall appear, ye shall receive a crown of glory that fadeth not away. 5 I
5 Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble. 5 I
6 Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time: 14 I
7 Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you. 53 I
8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: 32 I
9 Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world. 17 I
10 But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you. 16 I
11 To him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen. 2 I
12 By Silvanus, a faithful brother unto you, as I suppose, I have written briefly, exhorting, and testifying that this is the true grace of God wherein ye stand.
13 The church that is at Babylon, elected together with you, saluteth you; and so doth Marcus my son.
14 Greet ye one another with a kiss of charity. Peace be with you all that are in Christ Jesus. Amen. 11 I
