9 Wherewithal shall a young man cleanse his way? by taking heed thereto according to thy word. 15 I

20 My soul breaketh for the longing that it hath unto thy judgments at all times. 9 I

21 Thou hast rebuked the proud that are cursed, which do err from thy commandments. 4 I

22 Remove from me reproach and contempt; for I have kept thy testimonies. 2 I

23 Princes also did sit and speak against me: but thy servant did meditate in thy statutes. 2 I

24 Thy testimonies also are my delight and my counselors. 12 I

25 My soul cleaveth unto the dust: quicken thou me according to thy word. 10 I

26 I have declared my ways, and thou heardest me: teach me thy statutes. 2 I

27 Make me to understand the way of thy precepts: so shall I talk of thy wondrous works. 4 I

28 My soul melteth for heaviness: strengthen thou me according unto thy word. 9 I

29 Remove from me the way of lying: and grant me thy law graciously. 4 I

30 I have chosen the way of truth: thy judgments have I laid before me. 7 I

31 I have stuck unto thy testimonies: O Lord, put me not to shame.

32 I will run the way of thy commandments, when thou shalt enlarge my heart. 14 I

33 Teach me, O Lord, the way of thy statutes; and I shall keep it unto the end. 8 I

34 Give me understanding, and I shall keep thy law; yea, I shall observe it with my whole heart. 14 I

35 Make me to go in the path of thy commandments; for therein do I delight. 9 I

36 Incline my heart unto thy testimonies, and not to covetousness. 19 I

37 Turn away mine eyes from beholding vanity; and quicken thou me in thy way. 18 I

38 Stablish thy word unto thy servant, who is devoted to thy fear. 11 I

39 Turn away my reproach which I fear: for thy judgments are good. 4 I

40 Behold, I have longed after thy precepts: quicken me in thy righteousness. 8 I

41 Let thy mercies come also unto me, O Lord, even thy salvation, according to thy word. 16 I

42 So shall I have wherewith to answer him that reproacheth me: for I trust in thy word.

43 And take not the word of truth utterly out of my mouth; for I have hoped in thy judgments. 16 I

44 So shall I keep thy law continually for ever and ever. 11 I

45 And I will walk at liberty: for I seek thy precepts. 5 I

46 I will speak of thy testimonies also before kings, and will not be ashamed.

47 And I will delight myself in thy commandments, which I have loved. 6 I

48 My hands also will I lift up unto thy commandments, which I have loved; and I will meditate in thy statutes. 4 I

49 Remember the word unto thy servant, upon which thou hast caused me to hope. 6 I

50 This is my comfort in my affliction: for thy word hath quickened me. 14 I

51 The proud have had me greatly in derision: yet have I not declined from thy law. 2 I

52 I remembered thy judgments of old, O Lord; and have comforted myself.

53 Horror hath taken hold upon me because of the wicked that forsake thy law.

54 Thy statutes have been my songs in the house of my pilgrimage. 9 I

55 I have remembered thy name, O Lord, in the night, and have kept thy law. 4 I

56 This I had, because I kept thy precepts. 7 I

57 Thou art my portion, O Lord: I have said that I would keep thy words. 2 I

58 I intreated thy favour with my whole heart: be merciful unto me according to thy word. 4 I

59 I thought on my ways, and turned my feet unto thy testimonies. 4 I

60 I made haste, and delayed not to keep thy commandments. 11 I

61 The bands of the wicked have robbed me: but I have not forgotten thy law. 9 I

62 At midnight I will rise to give thanks unto thee because of thy righteous judgments. 15 I

63 I am a companion of all them that fear thee, and of them that keep thy precepts. 18 I

64 The earth, O Lord, is full of thy mercy: teach me thy statutes. 9 I

65 Thou hast dealt well with thy servant, O Lord, according unto thy word. 2 I

66 Teach me good judgment and knowledge: for I have believed thy commandments. 6 I

67 Before I was afflicted I went astray: but now have I kept thy word. 18 I

68 Thou art good, and doest good; teach me thy statutes. 4 I

69 The proud have forged a lie against me: but I will keep thy precepts with my whole heart.

70 Their heart is as fat as grease; but I delight in thy law.

71 It is good for me that I have been afflicted; that I might learn thy statutes. 14 I

72 The law of thy mouth is better unto me than thousands of gold and silver. 15 I

73 Thy hands have made me and fashioned me: give me understanding, that I may learn thy commandments. 8 I

74 They that fear thee will be glad when they see me; because I have hoped in thy word.

75 I know, O Lord, that thy judgments are right, and that thou in faithfulness hast afflicted me. 9 I

76 Let, I pray thee, thy merciful kindness be for my comfort, according to thy word unto thy servant. 11 I

77 Let thy tender mercies come unto me, that I may live: for thy law is my delight. 11 I

78 Let the proud be ashamed; for they dealt perversely with me without a cause: but I will meditate in thy precepts.

79 Let those that fear thee turn unto me, and those that have known thy testimonies.

80 Let my heart be sound in thy statutes; that I be not ashamed. 4 I

81 My soul fainteth for thy salvation: but I hope in thy word. 11 I

82 Mine eyes fail for thy word, saying, When wilt thou comfort me?

83 For I am become like a bottle in the smoke; yet do I not forget thy statutes.

84 How many are the days of thy servant? when wilt thou execute judgment on them that persecute me?

85 The proud have digged pits for me, which are not after thy law. 5 I

86 All thy commandments are faithful: they persecute me wrongfully; help thou me. 2 I

87 They had almost consumed me upon earth; but I forsook not thy precepts. 5 I

88 Quicken me after thy lovingkindness; so shall I keep the testimony of thy mouth. 8 I

1 There was a man in the land of Uz, whose name was Job; and that man was perfect and upright, and one that feared God, and eschewed evil. 6 I

2 And there were born unto him seven sons and three daughters.

3 His substance also was seven thousand sheep, and three thousand camels, and five hundred yoke of oxen, and five hundred she asses, and a very great household; so that this man was the greatest of all the men of the east.

4 And his sons went and feasted in their houses, every one his day; and sent and called for their three sisters to eat and to drink with them.

5 And it was so, when the days of their feasting were gone about, that Job sent and sanctified them, and rose up early in the morning, and offered burnt offerings according to the number of them all: for Job said, It may be that my sons have sinned, and cursed God in their hearts. Thus did Job continually. 3 I

6 Now there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the Lord, and Satan came also among them.

7 And the Lord said unto Satan, Whence comest thou? Then Satan answered the Lord, and said, From going to and fro in the earth, and from walking up and down in it.

8 And the Lord said unto Satan, Hast thou considered my servant Job, that there is none like him in the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that feareth God, and escheweth evil? 4 I

9 Then Satan answered the Lord, and said, Doth Job fear God for nought? 2 I

10 Hast not thou made an hedge about him, and about his house, and about all that he hath on every side? thou hast blessed the work of his hands, and his substance is increased in the land.

11 But put forth thine hand now, and touch all that he hath, and he will curse thee to thy face.

12 And the Lord said unto Satan, Behold, all that he hath is in thy power; only upon himself put not forth thine hand. So Satan went forth from the presence of the Lord. 4 I

13 And there was a day when his sons and his daughters were eating and drinking wine in their eldest brother’s house:

14 And there came a messenger unto Job, and said, The oxen were plowing, and the asses feeding beside them:

15 And the Sabeans fell upon them, and took them away; yea, they have slain the servants with the edge of the sword; and I only am escaped alone to tell thee.

16 While he was yet speaking, there came also another, and said, The fire of God is fallen from heaven, and hath burned up the sheep, and the servants, and consumed them; and I only am escaped alone to tell thee.

17 While he was yet speaking, there came also another, and said, The Chaldeans made out three bands, and fell upon the camels, and have carried them away, yea, and slain the servants with the edge of the sword; and I only am escaped alone to tell thee.

18 While he was yet speaking, there came also another, and said, Thy sons and thy daughters were eating and drinking wine in their eldest brother’s house:

19 And, behold, there came a great wind from the wilderness, and smote the four corners of the house, and it fell upon the young men, and they are dead; and I only am escaped alone to tell thee.

20 Then Job arose, and rent his mantle, and shaved his head, and fell down upon the ground, and worshipped,

21 And said, Naked came I out of my mother’s womb, and naked shall I return thither: the Lord gave, and the Lord hath taken away; blessed be the name of the Lord. 11 I

22 In all this Job sinned not, nor charged God foolishly. 6 I

1 The burden of the valley of vision. What aileth thee now, that thou art wholly gone up to the housetops?

2 Thou that art full of stirs, a tumultuous city, joyous city: thy slain men are not slain with the sword, nor dead in battle.

3 All thy rulers are fled together, they are bound by the archers: all that are found in thee are bound together, which have fled from far.

4 Therefore said I, Look away from me; I will weep bitterly, labour not to comfort me, because of the spoiling of the daughter of my people.

5 For it is a day of trouble, and of treading down, and of perplexity by the Lord God of hosts in the valley of vision, breaking down the walls, and of crying to the mountains.

6 And Elam bare the quiver with chariots of men and horsemen, and Kir uncovered the shield.

7 And it shall come to pass, that thy choicest valleys shall be full of chariots, and the horsemen shall set themselves in array at the gate.

8 And he discovered the covering of Judah, and thou didst look in that day to the armour of the house of the forest.

9 Ye have seen also the breaches of the city of David, that they are many: and ye gathered together the waters of the lower pool.

10 And ye have numbered the houses of Jerusalem, and the houses have ye broken down to fortify the wall.

11 Ye made also a ditch between the two walls for the water of the old pool: but ye have not looked unto the maker thereof, neither had respect unto him that fashioned it long ago.

12 And in that day did the Lord God of hosts call to weeping, and to mourning, and to baldness, and to girding with sackcloth: 6 I

13 And behold joy and gladness, slaying oxen, and killing sheep, eating flesh, and drinking wine: let us eat and drink; for to morrow we shall die. 4 I

14 And it was revealed in mine ears by the Lord of hosts, Surely this iniquity shall not be purged from you till ye die, saith the Lord God of hosts. 4 I

15 Thus saith the Lord God of hosts, Go, get thee unto this treasurer, even unto Shebna, which is over the house, and say,

16 What hast thou here? and whom hast thou here, that thou hast hewed thee out a sepulchre here, as he that heweth him out a sepulchre on high, and that graveth an habitation for himself in a rock?

17 Behold, the Lord will carry thee away with a mighty captivity, and will surely cover thee.

18 He will surely violently turn and toss thee like a ball into a large country: there shalt thou die, and there the chariots of thy glory shall be the shame of thy lord’s house.

19 And I will drive thee from thy station, and from thy state shall he pull thee down.

20 And it shall come to pass in that day, that I will call my servant Eliakim the son of Hilkiah:

21 And I will clothe him with thy robe, and strengthen him with thy girdle, and I will commit thy government into his hand: and he shall be a father to the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and to the house of Judah.

22 And the key of the house of David will I lay upon his shoulder; so he shall open, and none shall shut; and he shall shut, and none shall open. 4 I

23 And I will fasten him as a nail in a sure place; and he shall be for a glorious throne to his father’s house.

24 And they shall hang upon him all the glory of his father’s house, the offspring and the issue, all vessels of small quantity, from the vessels of cups, even to all the vessels of flagons.

25 In that day, saith the Lord of hosts, shall the nail that is fastened in the sure place be removed, and be cut down, and fall; and the burden that was upon it shall be cut off: for the Lord hath spoken it. 4 I

28 Then led they Jesus from Caiaphas unto the hall of judgment: and it was early; and they themselves went not into the judgment hall, lest they should be defiled; but that they might eat the passover.

29 Pilate then went out unto them, and said, What accusation bring ye against this man?

30 They answered and said unto him, If he were not a malefactor, we would not have delivered him up unto thee.

31 Then said Pilate unto them, Take ye him, and judge him according to your law. The Jews therefore said unto him, It is not lawful for us to put any man to death:

32 That the saying of Jesus might be fulfilled, which he spake, signifying what death he should die.

33 Then Pilate entered into the judgment hall again, and called Jesus, and said unto him, Art thou the King of the Jews?

34 Jesus answered him, Sayest thou this thing of thyself, or did others tell it thee of me?

35 Pilate answered, Am I a Jew? Thine own nation and the chief priests have delivered thee unto me: what hast thou done?

36 Jesus answered, My kingdom is not of this world: if my kingdom were of this world, then would my servants fight, that I should not be delivered to the Jews: but now is my kingdom not from hence. 4 I

37 Pilate therefore said unto him, Art thou a king then? Jesus answered, Thou sayest that I am a king. To this end was I born, and for this cause came I into the world, that I should bear witness unto the truth. Every one that is of the truth heareth my voice. 6 I

38 Pilate saith unto him, What is truth? And when he had said this, he went out again unto the Jews, and saith unto them, I find in him no fault at all.

39 But ye have a custom, that I should release unto you one at the passover: will ye therefore that I release unto you the King of the Jews?

40 Then cried they all again, saying, Not this man, but Barabbas. Now Barabbas was a robber.

1 Then Pilate therefore took Jesus, and scourged him. 4 I

2 And the soldiers platted a crown of thorns, and put it on his head, and they put on him a purple robe, 4 I

3 And said, Hail, King of the Jews! and they smote him with their hands. 2 I

4 Pilate therefore went forth again, and saith unto them, Behold, I bring him forth to you, that ye may know that I find no fault in him. 4 I

5 Then came Jesus forth, wearing the crown of thorns, and the purple robe. And Pilate saith unto them, Behold the man! 4 I

6 When the chief priests therefore and officers saw him, they cried out, saying, Crucify him, crucify him. Pilate saith unto them, Take ye him, and crucify him: for I find no fault in him. 2 I

7 The Jews answered him, We have a law, and by our law he ought to die, because he made himself the Son of God. 4 I

8 When Pilate therefore heard that saying, he was the more afraid;

9 And went again into the judgment hall, and saith unto Jesus, Whence art thou? But Jesus gave him no answer.

10 Then saith Pilate unto him, Speakest thou not unto me? knowest thou not that I have power to crucify thee, and have power to release thee?

11 Jesus answered, Thou couldest have no power at all against me, except it were given thee from above: therefore he that delivered me unto thee hath the greater sin. 4 I

12 And from thenceforth Pilate sought to release him: but the Jews cried out, saying, If thou let this man go, thou art not Caesar’s friend: whosoever maketh himself a king speaketh against Caesar. 4 I

13 When Pilate therefore heard that saying, he brought Jesus forth, and sat down in the judgment seat in a place that is called the Pavement, but in the Hebrew, Gabbatha.

14 And it was the preparation of the passover, and about the sixth hour: and he saith unto the Jews, Behold your King!

15 But they cried out, Away with him, away with him, crucify him. Pilate saith unto them, Shall I crucify your King? The chief priests answered, We have no king but Caesar.

16 Then delivered he him therefore unto them to be crucified. And they took Jesus, and led him away. 2 I
