Psalm 76

1 In Judah is God known: his name is great in Israel.
2 In Salem also is his tabernacle, and his dwelling place in Zion.
3 There brake he the arrows of the bow, the shield, and the sword, and the battle. Selah.
4 Thou art more glorious and excellent than the mountains of prey. 2 I
5 The stouthearted are spoiled, they have slept their sleep: and none of the men of might have found their hands.
6 At thy rebuke, O God of Jacob, both the chariot and horse are cast into a dead sleep.
7 Thou, even thou, art to be feared: and who may stand in thy sight when once thou art angry? 6 I
8 Thou didst cause judgment to be heard from heaven; the earth feared, and was still, 8 I
9 When God arose to judgment, to save all the meek of the earth. Selah. 6 I
10 Surely the wrath of man shall praise thee: the remainder of wrath shalt thou restrain. 5 I
11 Vow, and pay unto the Lord your God: let all that be round about him bring presents unto him that ought to be feared. 2 I
12 He shall cut off the spirit of princes: he is terrible to the kings of the earth.

Exodus 21

12 He that smiteth a man, so that he die, shall be surely put to death. 10 I
13 And if a man lie not in wait, but God deliver him into his hand; then I will appoint thee a place whither he shall flee. 10 I
14 But if a man come presumptuously upon his neighbour, to slay him with guile; thou shalt take him from mine altar, that he may die. 10 I
15 And he that smiteth his father, or his mother, shall be surely put to death. 10 I
16 And he that stealeth a man, and selleth him, or if he be found in his hand, he shall surely be put to death. 10 I
17 And he that curseth his father, or his mother, shall surely be put to death. 10 I
18 And if men strive together, and one smite another with a stone, or with his fist, and he die not, but keepeth his bed: 10 I
19 If he rise again, and walk abroad upon his staff, then shall he that smote him be quit: only he shall pay for the loss of his time, and shall cause him to be thoroughly healed. 10 I
20 And if a man smite his servant, or his maid, with a rod, and he die under his hand; he shall be surely punished. 10 I
21 Notwithstanding, if he continue a day or two, he shall not be punished: for he is his money. 10 I
22 If men strive, and hurt a woman with child, so that her fruit depart from her, and yet no mischief follow: he shall be surely punished, according as the woman’s husband will lay upon him; and he shall pay as the judges determine. 10 I
23 And if any mischief follow, then thou shalt give life for life, 10 I
24 Eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot, 10 I
25 Burning for burning, wound for wound, stripe for stripe. 10 I
26 And if a man smite the eye of his servant, or the eye of his maid, that it perish; he shall let him go free for his eye’s sake. 10 I
27 And if he smite out his manservant’s tooth, or his maidservant’s tooth; he shall let him go free for his tooth’s sake. 10 I
28 If an ox gore a man or a woman, that they die: then the ox shall be surely stoned, and his flesh shall not be eaten; but the owner of the ox shall be quit. 10 I
29 But if the ox were wont to push with his horn in time past, and it hath been testified to his owner, and he hath not kept him in, but that he hath killed a man or a woman; the ox shall be stoned, and his owner also shall be put to death. 10 I
30 If there be laid on him a sum of money, then he shall give for the ransom of his life whatsoever is laid upon him. 10 I
31 Whether he have gored a son, or have gored a daughter, according to this judgment shall it be done unto him. 10 I
32 If the ox shall push a manservant or a maidservant; he shall give unto their master thirty shekels of silver, and the ox shall be stoned. 10 I
33 And if a man shall open a pit, or if a man shall dig a pit, and not cover it, and an ox or an ass fall therein; 10 I
34 The owner of the pit shall make it good, and give money unto the owner of them; and the dead beast shall be his. 10 I
35 And if one man’s ox hurt another’s, that he die; then they shall sell the live ox, and divide the money of it; and the dead ox also they shall divide. 10 I
36 Or if it be known that the ox hath used to push in time past, and his owner hath not kept him in; he shall surely pay ox for ox; and the dead shall be his own. 10 I

Exodus 22

1 If a man shall steal an ox, or a sheep, and kill it, or sell it; he shall restore five oxen for an ox, and four sheep for a sheep. 12 I
2 If a thief be found breaking up, and be smitten that he die, there shall no blood be shed for him. 12 I
3 If the sun be risen upon him, there shall be blood shed for him; for he should make full restitution; if he have nothing, then he shall be sold for his theft. 10 I
4 If the theft be certainly found in his hand alive, whether it be ox, or ass, or sheep; he shall restore double. 10 I
5 If a man shall cause a field or vineyard to be eaten, and shall put in his beast, and shall feed in another man’s field; of the best of his own field, and of the best of his own vineyard, shall he make restitution. 10 I
6 If fire break out, and catch in thorns, so that the stacks of corn, or the standing corn, or the field, be consumed therewith; he that kindled the fire shall surely make restitution. 10 I
7 If a man shall deliver unto his neighbour money or stuff to keep, and it be stolen out of the man’s house; if the thief be found, let him pay double. 10 I
8 If the thief be not found, then the master of the house shall be brought unto the judges, to see whether he have put his hand unto his neighbour’s goods. 10 I
9 For all manner of trespass, whether it be for ox, for ass, for sheep, for raiment, or for any manner of lost thing which another challengeth to be his, the cause of both parties shall come before the judges; and whom the judges shall condemn, he shall pay double unto his neighbour. 10 I
10 If a man deliver unto his neighbour an ass, or an ox, or a sheep, or any beast, to keep; and it die, or be hurt, or driven away, no man seeing it: 10 I
11 Then shall an oath of the Lord be between them both, that he hath not put his hand unto his neighbour’s goods; and the owner of it shall accept thereof, and he shall not make it good. 10 I
12 And if it be stolen from him, he shall make restitution unto the owner thereof. 10 I
13 If it be torn in pieces, then let him bring it for witness, and he shall not make good that which was torn. 10 I
14 And if a man borrow ought of his neighbour, and it be hurt, or die, the owner thereof being not with it, he shall surely make it good. 10 I
15 But if the owner thereof be with it, he shall not make it good: if it be an hired thing, it came for his hire. 10 I

Nehemiah 2

1 And it came to pass in the month Nisan, in the twentieth year of Artaxerxes the king, that wine was before him: and I took up the wine, and gave it unto the king. Now I had not been beforetime sad in his presence.
2 Wherefore the king said unto me, Why is thy countenance sad, seeing thou art not sick? this is nothing else but sorrow of heart. Then I was very sore afraid,
3 And said unto the king, Let the king live for ever: why should not my countenance be sad, when the city, the place of my fathers’ sepulchres, lieth waste, and the gates thereof are consumed with fire?
4 Then the king said unto me, For what dost thou make request? So I prayed to the God of heaven.
5 And I said unto the king, If it please the king, and if thy servant have found favour in thy sight, that thou wouldest send me unto Judah, unto the city of my fathers’ sepulchres, that I may build it.
6 And the king said unto me, (the queen also sitting by him,) For how long shall thy journey be? and when wilt thou return? So it pleased the king to send me; and I set him a time.
7 Moreover I said unto the king, If it please the king, let letters be given me to the governors beyond the river, that they may convey me over till I come into Judah;
8 And a letter unto Asaph the keeper of the king’s forest, that he may give me timber to make beams for the gates of the palace which appertained to the house, and for the wall of the city, and for the house that I shall enter into. And the king granted me, according to the good hand of my God upon me.
9 Then I came to the governors beyond the river, and gave them the king’s letters. Now the king had sent captains of the army and horsemen with me.
10 When Sanballat the Horonite, and Tobiah the servant, the Ammonite, heard of it, it grieved them exceedingly that there was come a man to seek the welfare of the children of Israel.
11 So I came to Jerusalem, and was there three days.
12 And I arose in the night, I and some few men with me; neither told I any man what my God had put in my heart to do at Jerusalem: neither was there any beast with me, save the beast that I rode upon.
13 And I went out by night by the gate of the valley, even before the dragon well, and to the dung port, and viewed the walls of Jerusalem, which were broken down, and the gates thereof were consumed with fire.
14 Then I went on to the gate of the fountain, and to the king’s pool: but there was no place for the beast that was under me to pass.
15 Then went I up in the night by the brook, and viewed the wall, and turned back, and entered by the gate of the valley, and so returned.
16 And the rulers knew not whither I went, or what I did; neither had I as yet told it to the Jews, nor to the priests, nor to the nobles, nor to the rulers, nor to the rest that did the work.
17 Then said I unto them, Ye see the distress that we are in, how Jerusalem lieth waste, and the gates thereof are burned with fire: come, and let us build up the wall of Jerusalem, that we be no more a reproach.
18 Then I told them of the hand of my God which was good upon me; as also the king’s words that he had spoken unto me. And they said, Let us rise up and build. So they strengthened their hands for this good work. 2 I
19 But when Sanballat the Horonite, and Tobiah the servant, the Ammonite, and Geshem the Arabian, heard it, they laughed us to scorn, and despised us, and said, What is this thing that ye do? will ye rebel against the king?
20 Then answered I them, and said unto them, The God of heaven, he will prosper us; therefore we his servants will arise and build: but ye have no portion, nor right, nor memorial, in Jerusalem.

Romans 12

1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. 43 I
2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. 29 I
3 For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith. 11 I
4 For as we have many members in one body, and all members have not the same office: 9 I
5 So we, being many, are one body in Christ, and every one members one of another. 9 I
6 Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, whether prophecy, let us prophesy according to the proportion of faith; 11 I
7 Or ministry, let us wait on our ministering: or he that teacheth, on teaching; 7 I
8 Or he that exhorteth, on exhortation: he that giveth, let him do it with simplicity; he that ruleth, with diligence; he that sheweth mercy, with cheerfulness. 5 I
9 Let love be without dissimulation. Abhor that which is evil; cleave to that which is good. 22 I
10 Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honour preferring one another; 17 I
11 Not slothful in business; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord; 20 I
12 Rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation; continuing instant in prayer; 29 I
13 Distributing to the necessity of saints; given to hospitality. 16 I
14 Bless them which persecute you: bless, and curse not. 18 I
15 Rejoice with them that do rejoice, and weep with them that weep. 13 I
16 Be of the same mind one toward another. Mind not high things, but condescend to men of low estate. Be not wise in your own conceits. 9 I
17 Recompense to no man evil for evil. Provide things honest in the sight of all men. 17 I
18 If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men. 18 I
19 Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord. 11 I
20 Therefore if thine enemy hunger, feed him; if he thirst, give him drink: for in so doing thou shalt heap coals of fire on his head. 12 I
21 Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good. 28 I
