And he trembling and astonished said, Lord, what wilt thou have me to do? And the Lord said unto him, Arise, and go into the city, and it shall be told thee what thou must do. (Acts 9:6)
Textual evidence attests (cf. p. 10) the omission of the words, “and he trembling and astonished said, Lord, what wilt thou have me to do? And the Lord said unto him.” However, Saul’s question, “What shall I do, Lord?” appears with unqualified textual support in ch. 22:10. Like the latter part of v. 5 (see above under “It is hard”), the present passage is found in no Greek manuscript, and apparently came into the KJV through an insertion made by Erasmus from the Latin Vulgate.
Arise.
Saul had continued prostrate where he had fallen.
Go into the city.
This suggests that Saul and those accompanying him were near Damascus (cf. v. 3).
It shall be told thee.
