“cherubim.”
The word is a transliteration of the Heb.
kerubim
, a plural form, and hence does not require the addition of
“s”
to make it a plural. For a description of the cherubim see
Ex. 25:18-20
.
Of glory.
The cherubim are probably thus designated with reference to the glory of God that was manifested between the cherubim (see
Ex. 25:22; Num. 7:89; 1 Sam. 4:4; Ps. 80:1
).
