And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works. (Revelation 20:13)
These words set forth the universality of the second resurrection implied in v. 12. No man can avoid appearing in person before God on His throne. Death and hell are found together in chs. 1:18; 6:8. For a definition of “hell” see on Matt. 11:23.
