John 6:54
Whoso eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, hath eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day. (John 6:54)
Whoso eateth.
Gr. ho trōgōn, a present participle, implying continual eating, a constant feeding. It is not enough once to have partaken of Christ; His followers must continually nourish their spiritual beings by feeding on Him who is the bread of life. Jesus had just declared that “he that believeth on me hath everlasting life” (v. 47); now He added, “Whoso eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, hath eternal life.” From this it is clear that to eat His flesh and drink His blood means to believe, to have faith in Him.
