Matthew 24:39
And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. (Matthew 24:39)
Took them.
Knew not.
That is, literally, “did not come to know,” or “did not come to a recognition.” For 120 years Noah had warned the antediluvians of the coming of the Flood. They had ample opportunity to know, but chose not to believe. They locked themselves in the darkness of unbelief (see on Hosea 4:6).
